CMA was established in June, 2007, created as a Not-for-Profit community service with means of helping USCG Captains and Mates find connections for employment, education, and other services related to life on the water in the Florida Keys.

The Association's purpose is primarily to:

• Provide a way for these professionals to communicate with each other.

• Help in sorting through the supply and demand of employment opportunities

• Spread awareness of important industry and area developments.

• Facilitate continued education.

• Assist in obtaining important benefits such as heath care and drug testing at reduced cost.
