Welcome, Captains and Mates!

The Captain and Mate Association is now accepting new applications for membership. CMA was established in June, 2007, created as a means of bringing USCG licensed captains and mates together.

The Association's purpose is primarily to:

Provide a way for these professionals to communicate with each other.
Spread awareness of important industry and area developments.
Facilitate continued education.
Assist in obtaining important benefits such as heath care and drug testing at reduced cost.

Previously, there had been no not-for-profit organization serving the needs of captains and mates, regardless of their particular industry niche. These professionals may be involved in fishing, diving, charters, vessel delivery, inspection, appraisals, or other aspects of the profession.

The Captain and Mate Association was founded and is managed by USCG captains. The Association seeks to bring captains and mates together as members, maintain the high quality of professional standards for licensed members, and form a cooperative liaison with the USCG and other organizations, associations, and government agencies. The Association seeks to encourage public understanding of the profession, and to establish a method of communication within this vast and regionally diverse group.

Another service the Association provides is a means for employers and boat operators to fill vacant positions. The website enables both parties to list their needs, which is a great benefit to all concerned. The website also enables the general public to view the listing of captains and mates and the services they offer, and/or links to individual websites. We also list discounts and services from various businesses for the public to utilize.
